Introducing: Antonia Apolinario-Wilcoxon, People's Center Board Chair
Dr. Antonia Wilcoxon is no jack of all trades; she’s a master of them. With extensive experience confronting equity issues in government agencies, non-profits, for-profits, and beyond, her entrepreneurial spirit and non-stop pursuit of education provide People’s Center with a sharp perspective and multi-disciplinary professional experience.
A champion of equity, Dr. Wilcoxon immigrated from military dictatorship Brazil and took Minnesota by storm. After receiving her master’s degree in International Management, she went on to lead innovative programs at Cargill International, the Frogtown Nonprofit Council, and the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Her work is rooted in strategies that center community voices, and build foundations for better, more intentional conversations around the issues that matter to them. These strategies have been instrumental in advocating for young people’s mental health, directing literacy programs internationally, and providing strong, informed governance to People’s Center as a member of our Board.
Today, after taking early retirement from her successful career leading a behavioral health program in the public sector, she debuted her own non-profit, Equity Strategies, where she currently works to identify, educate on, and dismantle barriers to success in all sectors.
